So much snow arrived here and it's not really melting ! ..... but, it does look magical and pretty and so lovely to have at Christmas.
Orangery and window are all done but there is so much more to do.
Some of the flooring is down and the plastering is done but, electrics need to be finished, it all needs painting , still some carpentry to be done and we will have to wait until early February for the new kitchen but, we are getting there. It's lovely to get a full view of the garden. See all of the snow on the roof ?
It hasn't been too disruptive and, all of the different trade guys have been brilliant.
I'll show you more when it starts to get prettier !!!!

DeleteYour windows and doors are spectacular...you chose well. The architectural detail is amazing. Look at all the snow! You must have 4-6 inches of the white stuff. I have only a dusting and can still see the grass poking through. I weep in envy...
ReplyDeletesnow was SO thick Susan. I just said to Rachel on her blog that a whole load fell on London and the closest suburbs { which is us.} Our son, who lives in the same county as us but is a few miles further from London, didn't get as much as we did ...... same for the builder. It's still very thick here. As much as I love it, it is due to get milder on Monday and rain is forecast so it should wash it away.I'm sure you will get more snow soon !!! The builder needs to do quite a lot outside still. I am pleased with the new orangery. I thought it was a bit grand to start with but it does blend in well with the house. XXXX

ReplyDeleteIt's coming on Z ..... we only have a third of a kitchen at the moment but we only have to wait until the beginning of February for the new kitchen which isn't that far away. XXXX

ReplyDeleteOooo .... I like that you think it looks monastic Rachel. The kitchen is due to be fitted the week of February 4th so not too long to wait. We aren't going for anything massive in fact, we shall probably lose a little bit as we lost a wall when they knocked through but, we don't need a massive kitchen and I would rather the main part of the Orangery was for sitting in than kitchen. Most of the younger generation would probably have made most of it kitchen which is ironic as lots don't cook !!!! Anyway, it should suit us. XXXX
DeleteI would love to have an orangery if I lived in a cold climate. The fruit trees would be protected from the outside temperatures and the extra light through the glass walls, as you have shown, would be a real pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the best parts are the windows and doors that are full length Hels ..... from our lounge we can see all of the garden which is lovely ...... mind you, we shall have to keep the garden tidy now ! XXXX
DeleteI like the way it goes right down to ground level, and not sitting on a low wall. That makes all the difference. Lovely.

ReplyDeleteBecause we can see all of the garden now from our lounge, it has made such a difference Pip..... and, we now walk through it all the time so it's become more of the house. There are a few compromises in the kitchen but thats always the way. XXXX

DeleteAwhhh .... thank you so much Mary. I have to say it hasn't been too much of an upheaval. .All of the different tradesmen have been amazing. We have been used to being let down and bad workmanship but everyone has been so skilled and competent.
