A somewhat flippant post title after the atrocities of last night in London but please know that I am thinking of all those involved. When I worked in London, the IRA bombed the restaurant underneath my workplace and the restaurant opposite and there were many other places targeted.
Our thoughts must be with the victims and their loved ones.
Blue skies and sunshine ..... here are a few flowers that are out in our garden .....
David Austin Blush Noisette ..... has the most delicious clove fragrance ..... good repeat flowering.
Rambling rose ' Kiftsgate ' ..... rambling through a tree ..... should be in full bloom in a week ..... strong, sweet, musky fragrance .....
David Austin ' Desdemona ' ..... strong, musky fragrance .....
Geranium ' Dreamland ' .....
Clematis ' Fukozono ' .....
Iris .... don't know it's name !! It's in our pond. We have a pond which is under the trees ..... not the best place for a pond as, after the 20 odd years that it's been there, it is now filled up with leaves ..... more leaves than water !!! But, there are zillions of newts, frogs and dragonflies and other wild life ..... I have re-named it a bog garden !!!
All photographs taken by me !!
Gorgeous pictures, they give a sense of peace compared to all the madness going around. Thank you for posting them.
ReplyDeleteA little bit of light in a dismal world ..... life must go on but our thoughts are with those who have suffered. XXXX
DeleteSuch a stark contrast isn't it. The peace and tranquility of our gardens to the horrors going on all around us. If only everyone could find enough in the beauty of the world.
ReplyDeleteLove that Desdemona rose, I have it too. She is late this year but then I did move her. For the second time. Who can blame her!
I am impressed with myself that I have the same rose as you Jessica !!! Mine is tiny as I only put it in this year. Our gardens are our sanctuary especially in these dark times. XXXX
DeleteLooks beautiful Jacqueline. A similar tour around my garden would just show vegetables!
ReplyDeleteWe used to grow veg Cro but, every animal and insect known in the UK used to hone in on them and it was such a battle to try and save them that we gave up. I just concentrate on the flowers and try to find the best veg that money can buy.... never as good as digging up your own though. XXXX
DeleteSuch a beautiful garden. I cannot grow roses as they get the black spot. I finally gave up on them, though I think they are so perfect in the garden. The bogs/ponds are hard to maintain. I have to use a pool net to clean out the leaves each year and at the city house, I have bird netting over to keep the ducks and leaves out. I like the idea of letting it go back to a nature habitat. So sorry we have to deal with zealots.
ReplyDeleteWe do get a bit of black spot and greenfly Donna and the pond is a lost cause now .... I actually like it as a habitat for the wildlife. XXXX
DeleteBeautiful . . .
ReplyDeleteThank you for PEACE . . .
We need a lot of peace at the moment Lynne don't we ? XXXX
DeleteYour garden is delightful, bog and all. Every day I pray an end to all the madness and every day hatred rears it's ugly despicable head. The sadness and disbelief in this country is palpable everywhere you go.
ReplyDeleteIt's really sad isn't it Z ? We went through all of this with the IRA and thought it was over .... I guess it will never be over. XXXX
DeleteDear Jackie, your lovely photos make me swallow hard: "Kiftsgate" and "Blush Noisette" were in the huge garden I created in my "country life" in the small city of Hildesheim (100.000 inhabitants, so not only a "town"), I had planted at least 16 different sort of old roses (have to count again), with their lovely fragance (I loved Blush Noisette!) - and iris, geranium, clematis, and, and, and... Now I have loads of culture and social life in Berlin - which is utterly fine - and a huge balcony - but, as I say: sometimes I have to swallow hard..
ReplyDeleteI bought a seasonal ticket for the Botanical Garden here, which is a compromise... Have a beautiful Whitsuntide! XXX Britta
Hi Britta ...... I am in good company with my Blush Noisette and kiftsgate then ?!!!! I'm sure that your balcony is a picture .... it always sounds so lovely ..... could you show us some photographs of it on your blog ? XXXX
DeleteA good idea to focus on the beauty of life and nature and give less attention to those destructive lunatics who're trying to wreck our society. They'll never succeed, but like the IRA they imagine they're going somewhere.
DeleteI love all the flowers. Especially the clematis. We've just had a spectacular flowering from our rhododendron bush.
I love Rhododendrons Nick but they don't do well in our garden . The Clematis has been good ... it's only been in a couple of years and, it's good for picking too. Sorry I haven't commented much over at yours .... have been a bit busy ..... will pop over shortly. XXXX
DeleteLooking lovely in your English garden Jackie - and your wildlife pond area must be pretty - I love dragonflies.
ReplyDeleteAs you say, "we must go on" despite the sad and bad times. Surely the world is worth saving - the ones who have to do it must get moving, the sooner the better!
Stay safe, and live life each day surrounded by beauty my dear.
Mary -
Hello Mary .... a few English flowers to take you down memory lane !!!
DeleteDon't spend all of your money in Ikea !!! Haha !! XXXX

ReplyDeleteOf course I understand Rachel but always lovely to see your comments so thank you. XXXX
DeleteI have put the heating on this afternoon, the weather is so terrible. I see from your comment to Ria that your weather is like ours. It is much much worse this afternoon.
DeleteWe were meant to go out to lunch with friends but they had lunch here as the weather was so foul !!!! So windy it's battered all of the flowers in the garden !!!! So much for flaming June !!!! XXXX
