ARTIST'S MUSE ..........




Vilhelm Hammershoi { 1864 - 1916 } was a Danish painter known for his poetic and subdued portraits and interiors. 



I really like his work .....




Hammershoi's wife features in many of his interiors, often depicted from behind ..........






..... I think that I would have been quite good as his muse !!!

    I remember David Hockney saying that he often hid feet or hands behind foliage, because he couldn't be bothered to do the extra work. I think VH probably thought the same about faces. I've not heard of him before; beautiful work.

      I love his work Cro ..... tranquil and beautiful, muted colours. Very calming...... and always wonderful interiors. He painted the British Museum and some beautiful landscapes. XXXX

    How strange, he looks like Pierre Bonnard. His paintings drew me into thinking of Bonnard (without the bath). But very different and yet something similarly haunting.

    Hello you!! I've always loved these paintings too and have seen some in Danish galleries when visiting family. Quite haunting but beautiful too. Good to see you're still blogging, I find it hard these days to find the time but will always be there...like the old days! Lou x

    I've seen some of these paintings! maybe Copenhagen? somewhere overseas anyway and I fell in love with them, and love the softness and tranquility they portray...and yes you could be a muse! xx

    Beautiful paintings, I agree. I love the sculptural element Vilhelm Hammershoi brings to his figures. You would be a perfect model/muse for any artist. Love your style of dressing.

    Does make ya think of Hopper, your hair is beautiful and would make a nice painting. been so busy volunteering at Catholic soup kitchen 2 days a wk. My
