I didn't think that Hurricane Doris was going to hit the South East as hard it has .....
Chris and I have been out in it all morning/early afternoon fixing the fence between our house and next door that had blown down .....
It was so strong that I very nearly got blown over { slight little thing that I am !!! ha ha } so, in the words of Colin Baker { English News correspondent for you overseas readers }
" This is Jackie, from Home Blog, married, mother, with an aching heart, soaked, really soaked, with cold feet, windswept, can't feel my hands, weather-beaten, pissed off, really dreadfully pissed off, drenched and with splinters " !!!
Hope that wherever you are, you are safe and have escaped any damage ..... thank goodness we had a new roof three years ago !!

Doris seems wild - isn't it risky to be outside in it, Jackie?!
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
It was OK Maria ..... we survived !!!!! XXXX
DeleteVenture forth with great care Jackie. Being bonged on the head with flying debris is not recommended.
ReplyDeleteI know Z ... not a clever thing to do but it would have pulled the whole fence down if we hadn't secured it. XXXX
DeleteIt certainly got much much worse here in the afternoon. I was nearly blown off my feet and retreated indoors until later when I just HAD to go out to my hair appointment. Nothing was going to stop me from that!
ReplyDeleteIt was so strong that it nearly toppled me over. We were at Lake Powell, Utah once and a storm blew up and we had to hold on to something or be blown away !!!! It's the most beautiful day today ..... what a contrast. XXXX
DeleteSounds miserable. My son's fence blew down last year two days before the sale of his house. It is always something.
ReplyDeleteIt's always such a big thing when we get extreme weather here Donna !!! We talk about it for days !!!! Today is calm, sunny and blue skies ! XXXX
DeleteOh Jackie, what a day you have had. Glad you are all safe. I am highly amused at Colin Baker's commentary. Thanks for the giggle.

It's all over now Helen .... it's s beautiful day today !! I don't know if you saw it but, many years ago, Colin Baker was doing an outside broadcast in the pouring rain and he finished with those words !!! It was funny !! XXXX
DeleteI'd heard it was going to be windy. The one weather thing I really don't like is exceptionally strong wind. Like you I fear for the roof. The sound of crashing tiles isn't nice!
ReplyDeleteBefore we had the roof done we used to lay in bed with our fingers crossed hoping the tiles wouldn't fall off onto the car roof !!!! XXXX
DeleteDear Jackie, It was pretty bad here on the south coast but nowhere near as bad as central Britain. My husband and I, both comfortably built, had great difficulty in keeping upright when we walked along the sea front. I hope you suffered no further storm damage and that your feet are now dry. Regards Sue H.
ReplyDeleteAll's well now thanks Sue...... we secured the fence yesterday and today, my husband is putting the fence panel back that we couldn't do in the storm !!!! XXXX
DeleteGlad you are safe Jackie.....have a Nice quiet weekend live Ria x ❤️
ReplyDeleteThanks Ria ..... all is calm now and our fence is fixed !!!! ❤️ XXXX
DeleteOH MY!
ReplyDeleteYES The weather has been STRANGE to say the least!LOTS of rain here in CALIFORNIA!MUDSLIDES, flooding.........the only GOOD was we were in a terrible drought!
Trees down too.................I hope you and the HUBBY FIXED THAT DOOR FOR LIFE!
XX
That's not our door Elizabeth ..... just a photograph from the internet !!!!! Our house is fine ..... it was just our fence that had blown down !!! Hope all's well with your home and garden !! XXXX
DeleteIt was a wild one all right. I didn't think the house was shaking that much but a bit of plaster fell down from the ceiling!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Jessica ...... it seems as if Doris has affected us all in one way or another !! Hope that your garden wasn't affected. XXXX
DeleteWell done for dealing with the fence straight away...if it was us we would still be looking at it and saying 'must mend that fence..'.
ReplyDeleteWe really had to fix it straight away Libby because it was going to pull down the rest of it if we didn't !!!!! .... we now haven't got hot water so have had to call out an emergency plumber !!!! Oh well ..... XXXX
DeleteHappy you are safe . . .
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be happy if you blew away!!
I' miss still here Lynne !!!! ..... and so is the fence !! XXXX
DeleteNorthern Ireland seems to have escaped the worst of the storm. Some strong winds, plenty of rain, lots of small tree branches ripped off, that was about it. It sounds like England was especially hard-hit. And loads of cancelled flights again!
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased that Doris passed you by Nick .... we had the end of another one yesterday .... EWAN .... I think you might have got a bit of that one but I hope not. XXXX
DeleteOh God Jacky, this sounds horrible! Glad you survived!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave the best of weeks!
Madelief x
It really was very blowy and strong winds Madalief but all is calm now. XXXX
DeleteIn the states we hide till the storm passes. Wish TRUMP would pass.
ReplyDeleteWe are a country in debt and he and his whole family are using our tax money for security $500 a day at Trump tower for his wife. Then the sons are flying all over to promote the TRUMP enterprize on the tax payers back He is a CON man and nobody Trumps trump, any one that does business with him has gotten screwed. Americans that voted him in are Dumber than rocks. My god! his theme song is " you don't always get what you want" he must laugh his ass off everytime it plays,. He is telling them and they are deaf. I just HATE him and all he stands for. Yvonne
I guess you have to weather the storm for at least the next four years Yvonne !!!! XXXX
DeleteDear Jaqueline, by now Doris has passed and I'm wondering if you are now dryer and warmer. Your write up here did make me chuckle, even if, admittedly rather at your soaked misfortune, you little thing, you. :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you survived as well as you did my dear - we know all about hurricanes (and a couple of tornadoes) which we've had to contend with here over the years.
