A HARD FROST ..... MAGICAL .....

This morning we woke up to the hardest frost that I have seen for a long, long time and it was beautiful. The photographs that I took this morning really don't do it justice. Every plant, tree and shrub was frozen and it lasted all day.  It was a truly magical sight .....

That tall tree in our garden was given to us at a horticultural college in a plastic cup with one tiny shoot emerging from a seed. It was after the great storm of 1987 and they were encouraging everyone to plant a tree. It is now over 70 feet !!!!

This was the beautiful English scene that greeted me as I came out of the pub in the early evening, of the church on the village green.
Pretty or what ?!!!

all images ....... MINE !!

  20. All I can say is MAGICAL! The way you captured this beauty is amazing. It makes me remember the days as a child living in the city I grew up in and way the frost would form on the fences and gates. Now I am feeling rather nostalgic. How curious the way it forms on the iron fencing and gates. What a wonderful capture Jackie!!!! Now I wish I could just be there to see it for myself.

I am astonished at the size of that tree now---from a cup to a beautiful specimen of a tree!

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas season and sending much love your way!

  23. These photos are the very incarnation of winter - the hoar (hope you do call it that) upon the spidernets, or the big "needles" on the plants - terrific! And the photo of the church: just to melt away (it would give a wonderful background to any Poirot-adaption). Merry Christmas!
