We had to go up to The City yesterday to do some ' financey ' things and got blown all the way up Bishopsgate and into the Eastcheap offices of our financial advisor.
Even though Storm Diana was knocking me sideways, I still managed a few photographs, even though they are a bit wonky ! I am always taken with the massive new modern buildings which seem to be getting higher and higher, and the way the old buildings nestle against the new .....
..... I love this little church ... I think this is the one that got damaged by an IRA bomb, along with many other buildings, in 1993 ..... with The Gherkin towering above it.
Part of St Botolph's, also damaged in 1993 ..... with a new building next to it.
The Monument to The Great Fire of London 1666 .....
Look at the size of this one ....... when you look up at it, you nearly fall over .... well, I do !!!
We had a wonderful lunch in Giorgio, Ristorante Italiano in Leadenhall Market ..... I love Leadenhall Market and it looked even lovelier, dressed up for Christmas ..... Christmas starts here.
Are you starting your Christmas preparations yet ?

Hello.....no not at home...the shop is verry merry Christmas....🎄🎁...hihihihi lovely day love Ria
ReplyDeleteHi Ria ...... I'd love to come into your shop ... I bet it looks so Christmassy. XXXX
DeleteChristmas tree is up and door wreath is yet to go up and will try to do my cards this weekend. Early for me but I barely had them out for New Years Day the last two years. Trying to make amends!
ReplyDeleteI was living in Whitechapel at the time of that 1993 bomb and was lifted off my feet in the kitchen when it went off!
You are doing so well with your Christmas preparations ..... I am on top of it but way behind you !
DeleteOur son and daughter-in-law lived in Whitechapel for a short while in the old brewery next to The Blind Beggar !!! XXXX
Those poor little buildings, hemmed-in by ugly monsters.
ReplyDeleteI love old buildings and have always lived in one but, there is something that I like about the old with the new although, nothing can compare with a beautiful old building. XXXX
DeleteI love Leadenhall Market on a week day lunch time. Does it still have that City buzz?
ReplyDeleteIt does Rachel, all year round but mostly in the Summer when all of the pubs are full of city workers spilling out onto the pavement. .... Others rushing here and there, coffee in hand !!! I love The City. XXXX
DeleteSo lovely to live near history. Not here abouts : (
ReplyDeleteAlthough I’ve lived here all of my life Z, I still love London so much. There is always something that I haven’t seen before. XXXX
DeleteWe start Christmas after miss 24s birthday. You took fantastic photos of London. I'm often visiting there for work and the city always stuns me.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna and thanks so much for your lovely comment. I love The City .... I think it’s one of the best parts of London, There are always so many wonderful photo opportunities !! XXXX
DeleteNo preparations as yet, other than having found my Yule Log.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be good if the Mayor banned all scaffolding from central London for a few years. Scaffolding and huge cranes seem to be overtaking most views of London these days.
It would Cro but they say that when the cranes disappear London is doomed .... a bit like the ravens at The Tower of London !!! XXXX
DeleteEnjoyed seeing the Old New comparisons . . .
ReplyDeleteMighty fine pics on that windy day . . .
Finishing up this note and emmeshing self in silvers and greens . . .
Rainy day here, music will help!
I rather like the old and the new sitting side by side Lynne. Old buildings are my favourite but, we can’t just keep building as they did in the past so I embrace it !
DeleteGet the music on and turn up the volume !! XXXX
I love the architecture of the market and would like to have lunch there. You are kind in noticing how the older buildings seem to nestle into the backdrop of the new. I don't care for the new cold looking buildings but you give me a new perspective on them.
ReplyDeleteI am an old building lover but I rather like the old and modern together .... never thought I would but I do.
DeleteThanks so I hope for dropping by and for taking the time to comment .... it’s always lovely to ‘ meet ‘ new bloggers. XXXX
