I had an email from my blogging friend Elizabeth over at The Vintage Contessa telling me that she couldn't comment on my blog !!!
Although things aren't what they were in the blogging world { I used to get 100 comments in the old days but many have left blogging and gone on to other social media sites } but I did think that four comments was a bit low on my last couple of posts !!!!
I even started to think that I might give up my blog .....
..... atychiphobia was starting to set in !!!
I have checked everything on Blogger and all is as it should be, so I think it's Blogger's fault.
There have been times that I haven't been able to comment and, when that happens to me, I either sign into Blogger again or I look for the blog that I want to comment on on Firefox, as it's usually with Safari that I have the problem. Firefox always seems to be fine.
One of the nicest parts about blogging and the main reason that I blog and prefer it to any of the other social media sites, is the fact that we interact with such lovely people and can have a ' chat ' ... it is the modern way of having penfriends from all over the world ..... I like to think of my blogging commenter's as friends and it's always a little bit disappointing when we don't get any comments ..... I really have missed you guys over the last few posts but I'm pleased that it's only Blogger and not the fact that you have gone off of me !!!
I've also noticed that it says UNFOLLOW under my followers and not FOLLOW and I'm not sure how to fix that either !!
Anyone who knows how to fix any of these problems, please let me know ...
Perhaps anyone who reads this could just comment so I know that you can ... by the way, this isn't a way of getting lots of comments !!! haha !!!
LOOK ..... even Shakespeare likes my blog !!!
Shame that he can't comment !!!

Well Jackie, I can't help with anything technical re blogging but I do agree about the disappointment of not getting any comments! x
ReplyDeleteHi Libby and thanks so much for your comment considering that I have been very lax, commenting on yours ! It looks as if people can comment but some can’t. At least I know that you are there. π XXXX
DeleteIt's not the number of comments that count; it's the quality (ahem).
ReplyDeleteHaha Cro ...... but very true ! I just had s feeling that something was amiss ...... I still don’t know why it says UNFOLLOW instead of FOLLOW under my followers ..... it says it on yours and Toms but Rachel and Johns says FOLLOW ! XXXX
DeleteIt has been so frustrating of late.
ReplyDeleteI like the “Blog Connection” best too.
I think some other social sites are just quick fixes.
I like the chat . . . tell my whole history . . ,
(Smile, not the WHOLE history!)
The commenting bit is my biggest complaint.
It takes sometimes 3-10 tries before the commentv will take!
I haven’t solved It but I am going to figure it out!
Plus I used to be notified when someone commented on my posts.
Now that is gone too.
I write my comment and then select it, copy it and sometimes that works best when I paste it .
I am here though, happy you are there Jackie, and let’s stay connected.
You . . . YOU my dear are a favorite!
love
lynne
Hi Lynne and thanks for persevering with the comments ..... i’ve Been there and it’s so frustrating usn’t It, especially when you’ve written a brilliant (?) comment and then it disappears !!
DeleteYou’re a favourite as well Lynne .XXXX
Took three tries!
ReplyDeleteYou are a true blogging friend ! XXX,
DeleteI agree with Cro. I hold the few who comment on my blog in high esteem.
ReplyDeleteI have given advice before about problems with comments because it seems to be on-going for Blogger users:
Make sure Third Party Cookies are enabled.
Stay away from Safari.
And remember that Apple and Google do not like each other if it is on an Ipad or Iphone that you are having problems.
Whatever, Jackie, I am still here!xxx
I’m not obsessed about getting as many comments as possible ..... it was just a bit disheartening getting only a couple !!!!
DeleteIt’s very random on Blogger ..... this thing where it says UNFOLLOW under my followers ....... yours and Johns says FOLLOW but mine, Cro’s and Tom’s says UNFOLLOW which means people can’t follow us. Usually these things resolve themselves after a while.
Thanks for still being there Rachel π XXXX
I share your hesitation, your indecision.
ReplyDeleteStay with us.
We are worth it.
Thanks Rick ..... what a nice thing to say. XXXX
DeleteOops, guilty of reading but not commenting, sorry. I will try harder! xx.
ReplyDeleteDon’t worry Hillybean ..... I’ve not been very good at commenting lately. I must try harder too. XXXX
DeleteVery beautiful blog by the way. xx ❤πππ§‘π
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhh .... thank you so much. What a lovely thing to say π XXXX
DeleteSeems to be working? When it says UNFOLLOW it usually applies to blogs that YOU are following. You don't want to give your followers the easy option of creeping out the back door without saying goodbye!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom and I haven’t forgotten about you know what !!!!
Delete.. the FOLLOW/UNFOLLOW thingy ........ there is no option on our blogs for people to follow. It used to say FOLLOW but now says UNFOLLOW ... so does yours ! XXXX
Does it? I know that if you are already following someone the only option is to unfollow. I sometimes have trouble trying to follow someone as there often seems to be no way to do it. Re the other thing - no pressure at all! I may not need one in any case.
DeleteI'm here-I'm here! I've just been battling life. I hate that I cannot easily return via email to comments. We lost that awhile ago. I rarely return to see what someone replied so I assume many others do also. I have always answered comments, but now I have to leave and go find their email and then reply grrrr. I use Chrome and never have issues (fingers crossed tuttuttut) I've heard safari does not like what blogger is NOT fixing. We're the dinosaurs babe. I get much more notice on IG but I just feel like I'm shouting out stuff at folks instead of visiting like we all have these many years. : D
ReplyDeleteMe too Z ..... I much prefer blogging to any other social media site ...... I’m staying put with my blog and am ignoring the other sites pretty much. XXXX
DeleteI like the comment of cro.....hahaha...no comment problems with you.....but i have also not much comments.....but i stay because Reading blogs is my favorite thing...so i stay...and i hope you Will too...i can’t miss you jaqueline....hihihihi.....love happy week Ria πππ
ReplyDeleteThank you Ria ..... we have been blogging friends from the beginning and you have always been there. I really like blogging so will be staying with it .... ❤️ Happy week to you Ria ❤️ XXXX
DeleteTesting, testing, 123
ReplyDelete:)
Brilliant ..... thanks Jessica .... you are a first class blogging pal ! XXXX
DeleteOh, hello again! I didn't realise the Eurocentric bloggers overlapped here with the exclamatory Americans in the Venn Diagram of blogging.
ReplyDeleteHi Vanessa .... yes, we all overlap each other here in Blogland. We do not discriminate in any way π€£ππ€£. XXXX

ReplyDeleteLike you dear I seem to still get a ton of 'readers' but fewer commenters! I admit I don't always comment either when time is limited however I do love hearing from many long time friends and hope I can keep going with my blog. I may have to cut down on posting almost daily - which means I need to take fewer photos, haha!
ReplyDeleteLove how you illustrated this post - you find the most amazing photos always. the girl on the swing could by 'Margot' on The Durrells in Corfu! Do you watch that TV series? We love it, and laugh so much at that incredible family and the 'one-liners', especially from Margot and Keeley Hawes!
Happy autumn in London.
Mary x
P.S. I see mine still says FOLLOW - strange yours doesn't.
Hi dear Mary,
DeleteI’m afraid i’ve been a bit bad on the commenting front so I shouldn’t expect as many comments but most have left blogging now. I still like blogging the best ..... the other social media sites seem so impersonal and just a photograph and maybe one sentence ..... everything seems to have to be as short and sweet as possible and many are trying to make money out of it.
We loved The Durrells ..... another lovely, charming series which was easy to watch and didn’t make you feeling miserable !!!!! That’s the sort of thing I like to watch.
Autumn is in full swing here on the outskirts of London .... my husband sweeps up leaves everyday at the moment.... London is a carpet of yellow, orange and red. Have a lovely week Mary. XXXX
Talking about funny things happening on blogs, my blog has disappeared from your side bar of blogs you follow!! I am sure I used to be there! I am in despair now that I can't see me there and Cro and Tom are there!! xx
ReplyDeleteDon’t worry Rachel ...... i’m sire it’s bloody Blogger .... I’ll make sure it goes back. ..... I promise you that I’ve not done anything ! XXXX
DeleteYou're back !!!!!!!!! XXXX
DeleteI'll confess I'm a reader but never commented. I love blogs and hope they are never replaced by other forms of social media which seem to only offer a momentary pleasure before they are gone and replaced by the next 30 second entertainment. Part of the reason I never comment on most blogs is having issues with posting comments. Once it becomes too hard I don't bother.
ReplyDeleteHi Toula and thank you so much for commenting ....., it’s nice to know you’re there. ..... and you are so right about people moving on to the next new thing. I like blogging more than any of the other social media sites so will keep doing it ...... please pop in again as it’s so nice to hear from people and ‘ getting to know them ‘ XXXX
DeleteHaving read this I thought it was really enlightening. I appreciate you taking the time and energy to put this content together. I once again find myself personally spending a significant amount of time both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was still worth it!
