JANUARY REFLECTIONS ..........

Christmas is now all packed away and back in the loft in the ' HOME ' household .....

I don't ' do ' New Year resolutions .....

and I shan't be changing the above habit of many years .....

but, I will find more time to hang out with friend's .....

Be forever thankful for where I live and to remember how lucky I am .....

..... stop buying stuff .....

..... and more stuff .....

..... do more creative stuff .....

..... read more { including ' War & Peace '  Rachel !!! }

..... and, obviously, eat more chocolate !!!!

..... on reflection, maybe I DO make New Year resolutions ..... How about you ?

  2. I admire your devotion to black; I too am a devotee. Those women in their spotted 'house coats' (called Blouses here), look like all my female neighbours over 65.

    1. I am devoted to it to the point of obsessed Cro !!!!! The odd bit of white, grey and, if pushed, burgundy slips in now and again but everythig looks so much better in black. XXXX

  3. Hello you! I think you're onto something with this black thing; I noted my recent wardrobe purchase of the last six months have all been black. But then I read some commentary - maybe by Nora Ephron? - that said black over 40 is no good. I should be embracing colour. I am going to stick with black! It suits the climate here. And always looks smart. Anyway - happy 2016, lovely to hear what you're up to and good luck with your non-resolving resolutions. Lou x

    1. Hi Lou ...... first of all ..... your kitchen/family room is AMAZING !!!
As for black..... if you ever see models or most people in the fashion industry, on their days off, they are invariably in black from head to toe !! I don't think that I agree with the ' don't wear black when you get older ' theory ... I LOVE it and, you can always wear red nail varnish !!
Happy 2016 to you and your lovely family ...... you have put everything in place in 2015 and you can now SOAR !!! Lots of love. XXXX

  4. What a post, I'm laughing, thinking, and agreeing with so much you share here Jackie. No, I don't make resolutions - well on thinking perhaps I do! Need to stop with the 'stuff' - too much brought home and nowhere left to display it. Since I gave up my shop space where I was also buying for others, I have done much better in this department as I'm not bringing much home - I go to fewer antiques venues that's for sure, and I think more about 'what if we do decide to move and have less living/storage space than ever.' I'm editing now the decorations are stored away.

Re: the wardrobe - lots of black BUT also loads of grey, and this winter shades of plum. I did buy the red coat (thought it would be fun for a change over the black!) - but never wore it once over Christmas/New Year - it's wool and we had to run air-con because the weather was so hot!

Here's to some snowy days - we now have the cold - today I get my hair cut and I shall venture forth in a black dress and leggings, black boots. . . . . . . . and the red coat!

Love and hugs for 2016 - make every moment joyful

I do find it hard not to buy ' stuff ' when I see it ...... I really must curb my impulses in 2016 !!
Lots of love to you Mary. XXXX

  5. All so beautiful Jacqueline. You are a very talented blogger. Buy less stuff really speaks to me and I hope others though the shop owners and politicians wouldn't agree lest capitalism shows itself for what it is. I wear black but everything shows on it in particular cat hair. I used to mostly wear white and find clothes I purchase are either black or white. Easier that way.

  13. Like you, I say I don't make resolutions, but I have wishes and hopes and secret things that I hope to achieve but don't tell anyone just in case. My go to colour is navy - with everything - I am addicted to navy and don't feel right unless I wear it - open my wardrobe doors and there is a sea of navy. And yes, definitely cutting down on buying stuff and more stuff - and although I do read a lot now, there is always room for more books and more reading. As for chocolate well I can take it or leave it.

  19. Never a dull moment when I read your blog and all the lovely comments I've just read. Your photos are always a joy to see. Loved the old ladies in their overall dresses, just think how fabulous they would look if they followed your theme, Black. black and more black. Black on black in different textures always looks fab, and I'm sure that's just how you look. I too am a lover of black, even more now that I don't have my hair coloured. Thankfully I feel good with how I look, I don't think of myself as old and grey, just need to stop eating Chocolate.
