ODDS & SODS, BIT'S AND BOB'S & A DILEMMA ..........

OK, I'm at a loss to know just what to write about ! I promised myself that I would blog more but there's just nothing very interesting going on that you would be interested in !

I cleaned out under the stairs today .... woohoo !!!

I found our daughters inline skates ! They are nearly thirty years old !! There were old trays, bubble wrap and enough coats to clothe the street !

I bought a yew ball for the urn in our garden ..... I prefer Box but it would only have got box blight or the caterpiller thing so I thought the Yew was a better bet seeing as they cost a packet !
Now for the dilemma ..........

Do you remember when I did this ? It was a couple of years ago ..... I went to see Nik Kershaw with my oldest friend and stayed at her house. After the concert, we talked into the small hours { only one glass of wine had been consumed } I woke up at 7.00 am with the most awful stomach ache so went to the bathroom. The next thing I knew, I had passed out, been sick and had fallen off of the toilet, knickers round my ankles, head in sick !! Good job I know my friend well and that she is a nurse. Here's my problem .... the day before, I had had my first flu jab. I now don't really want to have the flu injection but, because of Covid, it is recommended. I have asked many pharmacists and they are all against it.
Would you have another flu jab if you were me ?
Hope the photograph of my bruised face hasn't put you off your breakfast/lunch/dinner.

  1. Ask your doctor if having the flu shot caused the blackout...maybe not! I would also ask the doctor "If you were me, would you get another flu shot?".

    1. I asked the Dr ( told him about my reaction ) but he was noncommittal ) Also, when my husband has his they give him a leaflet saying there could be a reaction and yet, when I told the nurse , she reckons there aren’t any reactions to it. I also asked if there were any contra indications ... the nurse said no but, my friend who is a nurse , had Guillain-Barré, has been told not to have it. I will never know if it was the flu injection but, I have never passed out before and I had stomach pains, on and off , for about a year after. It’s put me right off !!!! XXXX

    2. This can be helpful...Before I began Doctor Aziba natural penis enlargement Product I measured 4 Inches in erect length, and 3 inches in erect girth. While flaccid I measured 3.4 Inches long. I began using his product, slightly skeptical I admit, and just 2 weeks later I was very happy with my progress. I measured 7.5 inches erect length and 6.5 inches erect girth, and 5.5 inches flaccid length. I was actually quite shocked at the huge gains I’d had, and continued using the product regularly, sticking to the usage schedule rigorously. After about 2-3 weeks I am 8.2 Inches in erect length and 8.1 Inches in erect girth. I am also 7.2 inches long while flaccid. This has had a huge impact on my life, not only has my sex life improved greatly, I feel much more confident and proud. Dr Aziba Natural Penis Enlargement works! and you can as well reach out to him on any of these cure for ALS, HPV, HSV, HIV, HERPES, Virginal Infection, Heart Burn, Cancer etc... 2. Oh gosh. That looks as if it was very painful. I agree that you need to speak to your GP for some advice about the flu jab.
Hope all goes well, whatever you decide, and take care Jackie xx

  3. Amazing what you find when clearing out. Old treasures. Your yew should be perfect as disease/insect resistance is important. I am hearing mixed reviews on the flu shot this year. I am on the fence. Could you do some research on UP TO DATE and PUBMED? UP TO DATE is a database of medical findings by MD's. (The latest research findings.) PUBMED database is the National Library of Medicine in the US. I wonder if the 2019 flu shot included something that you reacted to? I'd look at the vaccine content and compare over 3-4 years. The pharmacist might be able to do this for you.

    1. Thanks so much for all the information Susan .... that’s so helpful. I know they use different strains each year, guessing which strain we might get, so, I could have the injection and be fine this time. I’ll do some research .... thanks to you, I have more places to look at. XXXX

    1. It was a good bruise wasn’t it ? You are obviously fine with the flu jab so that’s good.
I’m afraid I don’t know who that is in the photo .... I got it from Pinterest . XXXX

  5. That's a cracking bruise, Grommit! I hadn't read your blog then, but what a disastrous outcome - are you sure the flu shot was to blame? I think this year's combo would be what we got here in Australia six months ago and pretty much the whole population got it as the Guv'ment pushed the message hard. There's also a Senior's Brew which I think has a higher dose? Anyway, feeling a bit droopy tired the next day was the only side effect for me and some of us had a stiff shoulder for a bit. And it worked - I haven't heard of a single person having the flu this year.

    1. I’m not 100% sure that the flu shot was to blame but it was a bit of a coincidence. I’m just a bit reluctant to have another one now ! Glad you came through yours unscathed Pip ! XXXx

  8. They were pretty spectacular weren’t they Cro ? When I passed out, I fell off the toilet and smashed my face on the bathroom wall !!! Even though I can’t be sure it was the flu jab, it has put me off having it again ! Your posts are always interesting ..... I don’t know how you think of something everyday ..... you are obviously a lot better at blogging than me and lead a far more interesting life ! XXXX

  9. Wow, what a shiner! The only reaction that I have had to my recent flu jab is a slightly aching upper arm. If you decide to have a jab please be ready to lie out on cushions with a bowl nearby! A hard decision for you to make as your doctor is not sounding at all helpful.

  10. The yew ball is beautiful - good idea instead of box as I know there can be problems with the English box. The few box(es) I have are Japanese - slow growing but have never had a problem with blight or insects.

Those skates may bring you a few pounds - I bet there aren't many around any longer. As for the coats - they are the hardest item to give up I find, lots of winter memories wrapped up in warm garments! I have to admit with the surge of affordable coats in stores such as ZARA, I now have lightened my load the last couple of years, buying cozy ZARA ones and gifting to the thrift shops the older much too heavy lined coats for this region. I love coats, now have mine out of summer storage bags anxiously awaiting the colder days here.

Oh you poor dear, I do recall that unfortunate incident, you were so bruised. . . . . .and really had your 'knickers in a twist' big time!
I had my 'flu shot in late Sept., no problems. I think it's something we all should get if possible - perhaps you could be prepared this time - no wine, stay home close to your bed, and take things easy for 24 hours.
I'm now debating the COVID vaccine - will I be a brave guinea pig when they start offering the shot, or bide my time? Life shouldn't have so many difficult decisions to make when one is older - it's all wearing us out much too fast!

Take care my dear - hope all works out - keep your great sense of humor, and stay in touch here - but keep those knickers on lol!
    Mary -

P.S. Thanks for that lovely comment on my anniversary of coming to America post. My Bob is lovely isn't he - I made the right choice XX

    1. Hi Mary .... Yew is a good choice as an alternative to box here in the U.K. ... even Monty Don lost most of his! So funny that you should mention the Japanese variety ... I have just had a small one delivered that is going on the garden table. They are very similar to box aren’t they ?
Love Zara ..... before Zara came to the U.K., I used to buy lots of childrens clothes from them when we used to do the day trips to Calais .... they were so different. ... and I still like Zara and buy lots from them. Some of their home products are nice as well.
I will have to think long and hard about the flu vaccine and I’m not sure about the Covid vaccine when they finally get one. It will have only been basically tested and they won’t know what the long term effects of it will be for many years.
I loved your Coming to America post Mary ..... you certainly met your soulmate. XXXX

  12. My husband had his flu shot a week ago . . . and no problems.
He has been reminding me to get mine . . .
    I did so on Friday . . .
I have never had a reaction, not sure about “this time.”
Returned home after a brief shop at the grocers
feeling this heavy, must rest, take a nap feeling.
I had not had lunch, although I had eaten before the flu shot.
I dozed off, awakened suddenly knowing I needed the bathroom
and experienced an explosive eruption, clean out of my system.
Strange indeed, (stranger even more that I am writing about it here.) .
Although no black out, or fall from the “John” or hitting my face.
I felt a strange aura, discomfort and did wonder . . . was it a reaction of sorts.
Ached all over, went back for more sleep . ..
Next day . . and I feel fine.

The COVID vaccine will have to go through many trials/tests before I will try it.

I, like you, have never cleaned out, sorted out, discarded more “stuff” in years!
And still not sure where it all came from.

I would think your doctor would want to monitor and
keep a good eye on you if you decide on the flu shot.

    1. That sounds like my reaction but without the passing out Lynne. The trouble is, I shall never know if it was the flu vaccine. The other thing was that it went on for months in a milder way. That was two years ago now .... I didn’t have one last year. I’ve never had anything like that before so it seems a bit of a coincidence ! My husband has them every year without any reaction.
Like you, I will want to see more tests with any COVID vaccine ! XXXX

    1. I agree with all of what you say Ria. I’m not anti vaccine .... I have had them all as have our children but, because of what happened, I am reluctant to have the flu injection and I don’t think that I’d be first in the queue if they find a vaccine for COVID .... I’ll let the more enthusiastic test it out for me !!! 💖 XxxX

  16. Boah, Jackie - what a bruise - and how courageous of you to post it!

As to your dilemma: such a difficult decision (which maybe by now you have already solved?)

In my life I never had the flu injection - I have many concerns about it - but this year I went to my doctor, very early, and got it. I expected three days symptoms (as my son always had - he get the vaccination every year) - but I had nothing, not a weeny tiny bit - so maybe it has become a softer injection?
IF you take it - let for two days the cupboard wait, forget cleaning (well done!), don't drink even a 0,1l glass of wine - in short: behave is if you "have" the flu and pamper yourself in a safe place (which I call bed).

Follow your own instinct - mine this year told me to go, against all my doubts, and so I did.

  19. Its a pleasure for me to write this testimony about how i got my Genital Herpes simplex been reading so many comments of some people who were cured from various diseases by Dr ubarlo but i never believed them. I was hurt and depressed so I was too curious and wanted to try Dr ubarlo, then i contacted him through his email when i contact him, he assured me 100% that he will heal me, i pleaded with him to help me out. My treatment was a great success, he healed me just as he promised. he sent me his medication and ask me to go for check up after one weeks of taking the medication. i agreed with him i took this medication and went for check up a , to my greatest surprise my result was negative after the treatment, i am really happy that i am cured and healthy again. I have waited for 3weeks to be very sure i was completely healed before writing this testimony. I did another blood test one week ago and it was still Herpes negative. so i guess its time i recommend anyone going through Herpes HSV-1 or HSV-2, HIV, HPV, Hepatitis B, Diabetes, Cancer reach him through Email drubarlohome@gmail.com OR add on whatsapp +2348119508814
