BY INVITATION ….. TRADING WITH OUR OWN SKILLS ….. A BARTER SYSTEM !!!! ……….

Trading with our own skills ….. a barter system. This is the subject for our January 2015 By Invitation post, suggested by Coty
…..
If the world's currency ceased as we know it, and we had to barter, what would our immediate skills be …..

Well, I guess that we would all find it difficult.

I'm not going to pretend that I'd turn into Wonder Woman and be baking up a storm …..

….. or suddenly becoming exceptionally skilled at whittling wood but, I'm sure that I'd get by….. I'm pretty capable ! Once we've had the privilege of modern technology, it's so much harder to go back, isn't it ? Only this Saturday, our Sky dish connections came loose, due to high winds and, as much as it didn't ruin our life, it was annoying that we couldn't watch the things that we like to watch, only because we are used to having that particular facility…… if we'd never had it, we wouldn't miss it …… and it was only off for a couple of days !!!!!

SO ….. what skills could I barter with ? ….. perhaps a bit of decorating …..

….. take in ironing ? …..

….. walk dogs ? …..

….. £1 a kiss ? …..

or, last resort ….. sell my body !!!!!

I think that, maybe, I'd send my husband out to bring the money in !!!!!

Let's wave the magic wand and get back to 2015. As much as we can play at going back to basics, we all like our modern comforts and, once they are here, we all embrace them !!!

What bartering skills have you got ?

For more bartering ideas, Marsha has all of the links.

  5. Oh Jackie, you always make me smile and laugh!!! That's what I need most at the present moment!
I was really looking forward to 'what you will come up with' for this month BIO. And - as usual of coarse - brilliant! Always love and enjoy your images! (Where on earth do you find them!)
1 Pound for a kiss? You're joking! A kiss from you is priceless!
Selling body? Why not....if the worst would comes to the worst..... But to be honest, in my case just a little bit too late :)-ha-ha. Best idea - sending out our husbands to bring the money or goods in.
    Warmest and smiling greetings, karin

  6. Well, hiring myself out as a gardener would be a bit predictable. And as I would only work when the sun shines it would limit the opportunity a bit. I can't cook. My body wouldn't earn me a lot. Oh dear.
Maybe herd sheep? I seem to be getting a fair bit of practice.

    1. I think that you would clean up on the gardening jobs Jessica and a bit of sheep herding would make you a few bob, wouldn't it ?!! Don't think that I'd have many takers for the body either !! XXXX

  9. Couldn't wait to scroll down to see what to had to say and see your wonderful pictures. Like Karin from La Pouyette I always wonder where you find such wonderful pictures. Although I'd love to know, Please don't tell, otherwise everyone will be using them. It's what makes your posts so original. Love the stocking leg flirtatiously swinging from the bed., Not sure what I'd do. I'd love to do the pound a kiss, but I'm too old to get many takers. Maybe some, decorating ! I hate ironing so that's a No. No. Just love all your ideas. Happy New Year Jacqueline.

    1. Hi Barbara,
I only get pictures from the internet and, I always credit the place that I found them at the bottom of the post so, you can always go and find the sites. I don't do links as it would take me forever …. it takes me long enough to organise myself to do a post !!!!
Happy New Year to you and your family. XXXX

  11. Love the kiss idea, Jackie!
We vendors at the market barter a lot and we so enjoy it! A loaf of home-made sourdough bread for a hat, some cheese for organic vegetables, etc. Bartering is a great thing - years ago, my husband bartered some work on a friend's house for free yoga lessons!

  12. Oh, my precious, Jackie, you have had me laughing out loud. A kiss for sale is OK, selling your body is really not that bad, but OMG, taking in ironing? I would definitely walk dogs, or do anything dog-related. Sending the husband out to do the bartering, however, is the BEST idea of all!!
    As always, just wonderful !!

  16. Hello Jackie
I know you have a beautiful body and your kisses are well worth a pound but please don't do that. I think you would make a very good existence being a comedian. I would teach you to knit and sew and you could design the most beautiful jackets. I kind of knew you would not take up baking as you hate washing wooden spoons.
    A great post as usual.

  22. Hello Jackie,

Well, many of the things you list here seem rather too much like hard work for us Lazy Tarts that we are!

We have no doubt that selling your body, with or without the additional kiss, would make you a millionaire in no time. But, better still, we feel, is for you to use your undoubted creative talents to make delicious images for us all to enter into our very own fantasy land. For, you are the mistress of delight, intrigue, glamour and style which allows us, your readers a little slice of heaven when we visit. Perhaps you need to charge admission?
