  2. Hi Jackie, missed you on Sunday! I posted about Arsenal's win and only Cro commented, can you believe!!! Cars, they do run away with the money don't they? Pay up and forget it as quickly as possible I say. Have a nice chardonnay tonight, or better still a bottle of Champagne, and think yourself lucky Spurs can now concentrate on the League! Rachelxxx

    1. Hi Rachel,
Re Arsenal ….. it wasn't sour grapes…… was out a lot over the last few days !!
I know that my tyres are expensive but, they needed changing and pay up, I did, with good grace !!! I have made January an alcohol free month { I do that now and again !! } XXXX

  3. Darling Jackie,

    It is only money!

Now, of course, if only you could do away with a car altogether, what a saving that would be! But, we have to say that a mental image of you in your sports car, top down.....so much more stylish in winter.....hair wrapped in anElizabeth Taylor style turban against the wind leaves us thinking that the expense is well worth it. Turn down the gas!

    1. Dear Jane and Lance,
Pay up, I did but, the price of my tyres is always a shock, especially when they all need changing !! …. and, as I have heated seats, I have been known to put the top down in winter …. hair blowing free though !!
Haha …… the thermostat shall be turned down a tad !!! XXXX

  4. Oh how I know the feeling, Jackie! Rice and beans are a nice cheap meal, too."I love you once, I love you twice, I love you more than beans and rice!"
I cannot wait until the weather is better so I can get back on my bike - fortunate that we live in this small town where we can get nearly everywhere we need to go that way.

  7. Nothing against a little bread and butter - when your beautiful car drives you to the coast, you enjoy the seaside, and then you are hungry - all can be luxury.

  11. It would probably be cheaper to take taxis everywhere than run a car - they are becoming a real luxury. Unfortunately I live in the back of beyond with no bus service so a car is essential.

  13. 4 Tyres for the Compact Royce cost me €200, and you pay more than that for just one. If you need a food parcel, I'll get together with LaPouyette and we'll make up a hamper.

    1. I bought my car three years ago …….. have never had a soft top so thought it could be my swan song as far as cars go Cro !!!! …. and, they didn't do me over …. I bought two from a friends son who sells tyres and the other two from the garage that has serviced our cars for a long time and both quoted me the same price. I could have got cheaper ones but, these will last longer.
A hamper from you and Karin would be delicious but, I think we will manage a bit of scrag end for the weekend !!!! haha. XXXX

  14. My God, Jacqueline, surely you are not going to have to forego a sequinned new dress in tulle?

    1. Mise …. I'm afraid that I am. Maybe a plain tulle tutu without the sequins this year ! …. and no meat for the foreseeable future !! XXXX

  15. Hello Jackie
It looks like lean times for you. Bread and water is it? May I suggest you don a sack cloth and pray also. It seems all good leaders fast and pray. If you were here in Florida I would certainly be willing to accompany you on midnight raids of orange groves and we could poach some fish too.
