By Invitation is back and, I can't believe that we are in our fourth year !
Our subject for the month of September is Sharing.
Our subject for the month of September is Sharing.
I don't really have a lot to share. I'm ordinary, have quite a groundhog day life, as most of us have { with a few exciting moments now and again !! } and don't really have any pearls of wisdom to share with you all.
I'm sure that everything has been said about sharing much better that I ever could.
Sharing could be interpreted in so many ways but …..
….. sharing is what it is …..
Nature shares her seeds …..
….. people share information …..
You think that selfie's are a new thing ? Robert Cornelius shared this selfie of himself, that he took outside the store that his family owned, in 1839. It became famous for being the first self portrait or, as is commonly known now, the first selfie !!!!
Share a slow dance …..
Share food …..
Share a kiss { especially this one of Benedict's { or should I say Sherlock's } } …..
Share the rain …..
Share mischief !!
Share words and feelings …..
Share a secret …..
….. and, of course, as the child above said, ' Getting married means sharing your toys !!!!!
Everything's better when shared with another.

This is a delightful. We are social animals, wired to share. The challenge is to get the balance right between sharing the planet with others, including the natural world. xxx

What a thought-provoking post, Jackie, and that gif of Sherlock - wowza! *and I refuse to use the term 'selfie' - I still stubbornly stick to 'self-portrait' - aren't I a pain in the butt?!*
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
DeleteYou are definitely NOT a pain in the butt ….. I can't bear the term ' selfie '. It's just a photo that you take of yourself ….. people have been doing it for years. XXXX
Sharing is good especially when we share with everyone. Great post and great photos.

Blogging has been a great way to share Lynne. XXXX
DeleteIt is great to have found your blog and inspiring post!
ReplyDeleteSharing is a wonderful thing, but I do believe holding some things back for yourself is a good thing to do as well... I have shared too much in the past and have sometimes felt emotionally drained.
Sharing is a process of give and take. It was lovely to read your post, which was thought provoking with beautiful imagery and words. Thank you! x
Hi there,
DeleteThanks so much for visiting and leaving a comment. I totally agree with every word that you have said. It's never a good thing to share EVERYTHING !!

Love what you SHARE with us Jackie! What a remarkable photo of the young man who made the first selfie in the 19th century. He looks very much contemporary (and handsome)!! Although he has a touch of Heathcliff about him too :-)

When there are just the two of us, life is fine. When we have family here to share everything with, life is wonderful. You're right.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to say Cro ….. sharing is pretty wonderful. XXXX
DeleteHi Jackie, could it be four years for this event? I do so enjoy each theme. You always have an inventive eye in your approach to them. I do love this Sherlock and could stare and and listen to hime for quite the while. The Julia Child quote is oh so right. Have a terrific weekend, olive
ReplyDeleteHi Olive,
DeleteYes, the By Invitation posts are now in their 4th year …… time flies by so quickly { especially when you get old !!!! haha }
Hope you're having a lovely weekend too. XXXX
Hi Jackie !
ReplyDeleteIt is always very nice when you come to visit, it puts a smile on my face :)
I don`t agree with Bryant Mcgill, I just don`t believe in sharing EVERYTHING. You have to be aware of your surroundings, which people you talk to and what you share. You have to be selective with what you say and be critical to everything you read and hear. Because, there is not always positive outcomes of everything you share with others. At least that is my experience ! However, I agree with Julia Child, sharing food creates such wonderful moments, it is like the best recipe for love really. Wouldn't mind sharing kisses, toys, friendships and great conversations either:)
Have a lovely Sunday Jackie.
Here the rain is pouring down, nice to be inside with warmth and candles then...
Hi Aina,
DeleteI don't think that I agree with EVERYTHING that Bryant McGill said in that quote either !!!!
I never share EVERYTHING with anybody !!
…. but, as you say, sharing food is the best, isn't it ?
Wishing you a lovely Sunday too Aina, rain or no rain !! Here, the sun is shining and I need to get out in the gardan and start cutting down dead plants !! XXXX
Thank you Jackie, I will. I am making Norwegain Waffles tonight, jum ;) Yes sharing food is the ultimate source of pleasure for both body, soul and mind. I enjoy so much cooking for the ones I love !! :))
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time out in your garden today Jackie ! :)
Haven't managed to get out in the garden yet but there's still time !!!!!
DeleteRemember......"Sharing....
ReplyDeleteCaring.....
There were never such devoted sisters."
The Beverly Sisters? Course ya do ;) Don't you dare think of saying....'"Before my time Hon' ;)"
Love to you darling Jackie,
Hugs Jane xx
I certainly do remember the Beverley Sisters Jane and they were right ' on my time ' I'm afraid !!!!! I think that we saw them at the end of the pier somewhere on our holidays !!!!
ReplyDeleteLots of love to you Jane. XXXX
Lovely, lovely, lovely, dear Jackie!
ReplyDeleteYour posts always make me smile and they warm my heart, thank you!
And Benedict Cumberbatch just makes me dream (having Irene Adler's moan still on my cellphone... as I wrote in 'Blushing is so becoming'. .. The tube people stared (very un-British) when it started in my handbag :-)
Hi Britta,
DeleteIsn't Benedict perfect as Sherlock ? There is something really haunting about him.
…. and, I'm sure that a ' blushing Britta ' was an enchanting sight !! XXXX
Oh Sweet beautiful Jackie, and you my friend are spreading the seed of sharing beautifully.
ReplyDeleteLove all your quotes, and inspirational sharing photos.
