Talk about take over the garden ..... this fox really made himself at home in our garden today .....
..... the photographs aren't very good because I was indoors and he was a long way off and I had to zoom right in .....
..... we have always had foxes in our garden ..... sometimes they make long burrows and lots of holes ..... and they seem to love to play on our lawn. We don't mind, apart from brown patches of lawn that appear after they have marked their territory !!!
This one stayed a while and played with a magpie, then got bored and ambled off ! Can you tell that my day is very quiet and not filled with much excitement ???!!!!!
Oh, and, I'm having trouble commenting sometimes ...... I wrote an epic comment on Cro's blog ..... a wonderful rendition of visits to our family doctor in the 1950's/1960's. I must have written it 8 times, only for it to get lost in the ether and yet, it would publish a short, two sentence comment ? Don't think I've had that before .... and yet, I have had no trouble on other blogs ?
Has anyone else had any problems ?
XXXX
all photographs taken by moi !
Blogger is quite temperamental at times isn't it!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, that fox has certainly made itself at home. Do you have a large garden for them to roam in? Great photos considering you were "zooming" . XXX
He really took over !!! We don’t have acres but the garden is a good size for the suburbs….. and, it is bordered with lots of trees on all sides with lots of places to hide …. We do get lots of birds, squirrels and foxes because they are protected. We don’t even leave food out for the birds anymore as we have so many insects, berries and lichen for them to feed on. They all seem to really enjoy our garden ! XXXX
ReplyDeleteOh urban foxes. In Bethnal Green when I stayed there for a few months when I was at Chelsea the foxes were very bold and I have to say, frightening. If I was walking back to my room with a takeaway (in a bag and not opened) they came near to attack me for it. It was horrible.

Kathy left a long comment on my blog this morning - I saw it "land" when I was in a Zoom class. When I looked later to reply to it it had disappeared into the ether (Kathy hadn't deleted it) but it still appeared on my dashboard comments list. Anyway I copied and pasted it but that was so weird.
The urban foxes have become fearless now. My mum and dad lived in North London as does a good friend now and the foxes walk around without a care , especially on bin day ! I do like seeing them in the garden but I wouldn’t approach them ! That was odd with Kathy’s comment …. there seem to be so many one off things that go wrong ? XXXX
DeleteYour fox must have his den near your home as he looks quite settled. A fox passes through the back of my property occasionally. He seems very shy, as he looks up at the house and then moves on quickly. Like you, I enjoy seeing the fox and am happy to co-exist with them. They are interesting creatures and I am told their young are adorable when they play together.
ReplyDeleteHe must have his home near by. We did have a warren of tunnels once, coming in from a bit of waste land but they were abandoned. Perhaps this one’s family moved in !!! The cubs are really sweet but we don’t often see them. Our son had cubs playing in his garden once. I think they are getting so tame now and are beginning to pose a problem in some places ! This fox looked quite young and really healthy. Some have looked quite old, thin and mangey !!! XXXX
DeleteThe ones in Bethnal Green were horrid, mangey and thin.
DeleteThe mangey ones are not pretty !!! XXXX
DeleteA cutie for certain but wise to stay out of its way! Love the magpie who hopefully is not on the fox dinner menu. One visit to London we saw a fox walking along the runway at Heathrow from our hotel window!!!! Several huge BA jets were taking off, no problem apparently for the urban foxes!
ReplyDeleteIt was so cold in Alaska that my granddaughter saw only eagles and one magpie landed on the deck of the lodge!!! She sent a photo of the magpie and asked what type of bird it was - we don't have them here in the southeast so she wasn't familiar with it. I told her to say "Good Morning, Mr. Magpie". All other birds must have flown south.
No commenting problems here lately Jackie X
I never approach them Mary … you never know ! As I said in earlier replies, foxes are becoming a big problem and lockdown made it worse. That was a coincidence about the magpie. We see lots of magpies …. We have a pair at the moment that are always in the garden. One fell down our chimney once ….. a magpie in your lounge is not good ….. they dive on your head ! The fox didn’t seem overly interested in him. To see an eagle would be amazing …. the nearest we get are buzzards, sparrow hawks and red kites ! XXXX
DeleteI don't sleep too well, and back in Brighton I often used to get up in the night to watch the Foxes playing in the road outside. At my people's house in Shropshire there were always Pheasants; they seemed oblivious to humans.
ReplyDeleteI like foxes …. I even like the grey squirrels. It’s like having a mini safari in my back garden ! We see the odd pheasant along the country lanes but not in the garden. We are really the outskirts of the London suburbs here in Hertfordshire but do see quite a lot of wildlife considering. XXXX
DeleteI've always loved Basil Brush so any fox sighting can be a thrill - although here in Australia they're on the feral animal list and snack rather easily on our wildlife. They were introduced so some country squire could fox hunt like in the Mother Country! As ever, the best laid plans etcetera ... You can see them in Sydney at night, too. Mr. P has spotted the occasional fox near Bondi Beach!
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend in central London is beside herself with the foxes that patrol her back yard, but in the not happy way!!
No commenting problems here, Jackie ... touch wood! xx
Haha …. or should I say ‘ Boom boom ‘ ?!!!!
DeleteFoxes are getting a real problem …. the one I showed has been in our garden pretty much every afternoon ! I’ve had commenting problems on my phone for ages ….. it’s intermittent so I just put up with it …. have tried everything to sort it out …. Even Apple don’t know what’s wrong ! Never mind, I manage ! XXXX
BLOGGER HAS THE ISSUE AND YOU NEED TO COPY AND PASTE INTO CHROME WHICH IS TELLING ME I HAVE AN INCORRECT PASSWORD!!!
ReplyDeleteIT IS ALL VERY ANNOYING!
It’s on and off for me Elizabeth …. I have to comment on my laptop if I can’t do it on my phone. Forgive me if I don’t comment sometimes … it’s so frustrating !!! XXXX
DeleteIT WORKED AFTER I CHANGED MY PASSWORD!
ReplyDeleteFOX IS ADORABLE HAPPY HE IS KEEPING YOU COMPANY!!
He is cute but foxes do do a bit of damage in the garden. I guess that’s the price we pay for the joy of seeing wildlife in the garden. XXXX
DeleteLiking your fox visitor . . .
ReplyDeleteI think
Not the digging though . . .
I am finding blogging communication more difficult with recent changes.
Especially post creating.
Frustrating to say the least.
And I am not timely in visiting, sorry.
No worries Lynne …. I’m nearly always late to the party !
ReplyDeleteThe foxes are getting quite a problem. I just walked down the garden and found feathers all over the lawn and half a pigeon in the flower bed !!! XXXX
Wowwwww enjoy the fox love from me 🍀❤️🍀
ReplyDeleteHe comes to see us everyday Ria 🙂 XXXX
DeleteYesterday afternoon a young Fox was sitting on our front doorstep; in full daylight.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, wonderful work, it's beautiful so much and good idea on site.

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this
ReplyDeletematter to be really something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post,
I’ll try to get the hang of it! login s128
