It has been a sad time in the entertainment community over the last month.
Eagles founder, Glenn Frey is another who has left us but without a great deal said. He, along with Don Henley, made the pilgramage to Los Angeles, both with the same dream ..... to make their mark in the music industry ..... they certainly acheived that and made an impact on the lives of millions.
Like many other bands from my youth, The Eagles songs come laden with association ... emotional and personal.
We saw The Eagles twice at the old Wembly Stadium. As a teenager in the 60's, The Beatles music was the anthem of my youth but, in the 70's, it was also The Eagles.
The world will be just a little less rock and roll without him.

I loved the Hotel California album (which I still have). Great memories from my college days.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite albums of all time Cro and I loved The Long Run Album. It's a little sad that his death didn't get much attention. XXXX
DeleteYes, it's been a sad time with so many celebrity deaths recently, many being guys we grew up with and who serenaded us with unforgettable music. Today's offerings often don't do it - everything sounds the same and the words can't even be understood. I love a song with a story. May they all be in a better place making beautiful music.
ReplyDeleteHugs - Mary
I do like a lot of music that's around now Mary ....... it could be because our son is a music producer so I try be keep abreast of it. Let's hope that they are all having a bit of a collaboration up there !!!!! XXXX
DeleteSaw them in Houston. They are associated with so many of that era, either writing songs that others made famous or singing with them. It is sad but inevitable.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing them live Donna ...... I sang all the way through their concerts !!!! XXXX
DeleteJacqueline, I so want to see all those pictures on Pinterest. Looks gorgeous, but it won't let me see them without becoming a member :(
ReplyDeleteYou just have to join pinterest Donna ..... it doesn't cost anything ..... the only down side is that you get emails from them !! XXXX
DeleteYou can stop the emails Jackie - I did but I can't remember how I did it. I am addicted to Pinterest!!!!!!!!!
Delete.... yes, I think that I know how to stop them Elaine but, secretly, I probably like getting them !!!! haha
DeleteVery sad. I was a great fan of the Eagles back in the day.
ReplyDeleteSuch a brilliant band Josephine ....... I loved their music. I can' believe how many talented people have gone in the last month. XXXX
DeleteThere seems to be so many people leaving us at the moment - another great loss. Apparently he had rheumatoid arthiritus and the medication he was taking lead to complications - you never know when your time is up - frightening really.
ReplyDeleteI know Elaine ....... as we get older we hear more and more of it.
DeleteI love your comments Elaine ...... you are a mine of information !! I didn't know that about his medication and, because of you, I know why I lost a zillion followers !!!!!!! XXXX
A few days ago I saw (in the Guardian?) a photo of Keith Richard, evidently reading a newspaper, smirking. They underlayed him the sentence:"Ha, look whom I have survived today!" XXX
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing that he is still around though, isn't it Britta ? ....... considering !! XXXX
ReplyDeleteThe soundtracks of our youth are so evocative, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThey are Shawn .... and I have so many. I can't comment on your blog !!!! ..... I'm a bit loath to join Google +. XXXX
DeleteSad sad times in the music world . . .
ReplyDeleteDeaths in three . . .
Sad for us al . . .
So many talented entertainers have gone in the last month haven't they Lynne ? Inevitable but so sad. XXXX
DeleteOh Jackie ~ I cried when I heard the news. I can truly say that they are my favourite band. The songwriting skills of Glenn and Don are brilliant. So glad I got to see them in concert.
ReplyDeleteAnother great taalent gone Lori ....... like you, I'm so pleased that I saw them live in concert. He left a great legacy though. XXXX
DeleteJust like David Bowie another great loss in the world of music, but leaving a great legacy en memories behind. Anita xx
ReplyDeleteYes Anita ...... he has certainly left a great legacy ...... so many have gone in January. XXXX
DeleteA legend indeed. I work with someone who actually waited on Glen Fry. She said while she was used to seeing lots of famous people at the hair shop in LA back then, she could not compose herself when he came in. He was that "Gorgeous" as she put it. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw him from afar { although we were only a few rows from the front } a couple of times. They were brilliant ....... it's so sad that all of these talented people are leaving us but, unfortunately, inevitable. XXXX
