Mother's Day .......... CANCELLED !!! ..........

It's Mothering Sunday today .....

Our children and grandchildren were coming over .....

I bought loads of food ..... cooked chickens. As it's Mother's Day and I have to do the cooking, I thought I would cook things to have cold so that it all could be made in advance so that I wasn't spending Mother's Day in the kitchen !!! Amongst other things, I thought that I would make .....

..... Coronation Chicken .....
a good old standby ... a throwback from the seventies but, tastes great and everyone seems to love it.

..... BUT .....

Our granddaughter, via our son, has got chicken pox and, our daughter is pregnant so doesn't want to come within an inch of anyone with chickenpox or has been near anyone with chickenpox so Mothers Day is cancelled !!! These things happen and it's fine but ...

..... Our fridge is heaving .....

I cut the meat from the chickens and froze most of it ... kept some back to eat ... and made chicken soup from the carcass ..... I have been a proper little Nigella in the kitchen !!!

Mothers Day is postponed until all signs of chicken pox are gone ..... we will be sick of the sight of chicken by Wednesday !!!!!

  2. POX on the CHICKEN!!!!!! Wow that's too bad for such a special day Jackie. Put your feet up, relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine - chickens in all their coronation glory can wait. Hope the family are chicken pox free soon, and that the pregnancy goes well - exciting!

I'll miss our Mother's Day here in May - will be in England (yeah!) - my bunch here will most likely be relieved they don't have to do anything!

    Sending hugs - Mary

  4. Oh dear, but better safe than sorry. Over here we had Mother's Day a week early. For some reason Lady Magnon thought is was a week ago, so I Emailed the children reminding them to Skype; which they did. Only one knew that we had the wrong date.

    1. Hi Britta .... so lovely to ‘see’ you 😂
It wasn’t a problem really and I didn’t have to throw anything away and we ate some nice things that week !
..... and, it wasn’t worth a lunch for the sake of chicken pox 😱 XXXX

  9. Best to avoid the chicken pox when pregnant, I am sure. All that food, all that chicken, you will be ready for anything but chicken soon.
