BY INVITATION ..... AUTUMN FASHION ..... OUR ' TAKE EVERYWHERE, CAN'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT ' !! .....

Our By Invitation subject this month is all about Autumn fashion and the one thing that we take everywhere and can't leave home without .....

I'm not really a jewellery lover but, I do love silver bangles and, in particular, silver cuffs.

The above are my favourites ..... two silver cuffs from Afghanistan and .....

..... my silver cross which, I think, was a Bible hinge and you'll never guess where it came from ? I bought it when I was about 18 from the shop called Chelsea Girl { now called River Island } at the end of the 1960's and, I wear it and the bracelets everyday when I go out. The cross cost me £1.99 !!!! It's solid silver and, I've seen them for sale for over £100 !!  Over 40 years of wearing it, pretty much, everyday. I think that I have got my money's worth, don't you ? ..... Good old Chelsea Girl !!

I do vary the bracelets from time to time . My husband bought me most of them including the one above ..... I then saw it on a catwalk image on Pinterest !!!! ..... my bracelet is famous !!!! ... ish !!

I guess that I'm cheating a bit as, I do wear them in Spring, Summer and Winter too but, they are really the only things that I take everywhere !!

  1. Your silver cuffs are beautiful - I don't wear any jewellery at all - I find it an encumbrance- I can't explain it very well but it makes me feel a bit claustrophobic - stupid I know. The thing I never leave home without is my camera I guess. It is simply tipping it down at the moment and has gone very dark - more like November than the beginning of October - thank goodness we had that late blast of summery weather to see us through.

    1. Hi Elaine,
Although I wear my silver cuffs, I think I know what you mean about it making you claustrophobic ..... I am ready to take them off when I come in and, in the hot weather, they are not the best !!
Dark and rainy here too but we will have some sunny days at the end of the week. XXXX

    Lovely . . .
    I am a one or three, thin silver . . .right hand/arm only . . .
And have several that make my choice depending on the day . . .
    If I go out . . adorned always . . .

  3. Oh, I'll have to remember that about the wrinkles. Alas, I guess I am out of luck as I don't wear anything but earrings. I love looking a jewelry, but don't wear it. Yours must look wonderful on you. My friend and sister wear much jewelry all at once. I think this year I need to get the blush cashmere wrap I got as a Christmas gift last year and finally wear it. It is so pretty - too pretty to wear with sweats.

  5. I am right there with you on this one Jackie as my silver cuff that I bought in Cambodia is the only jewelry that I really love. I wear it with a stack of delicate rattan bangles (bought on the same trip), a silver bangle bought from a Nigerian man and a Cherokee horsehair friendship bracelet bought at the Musee Quai Branly in Paris! I feel like they make me into WonderWoman. ;) And I really wear them when I need extra confidence for whatever reason. Yours are so lovely and that necklace - and the story behind it - is fantastic!

  10. I , too, love silver cuffs. My husband gave me an Elsa Peretti cuff many years ago and it remains my favorite bracelet and people still comment on it. I also have some ancient old bone bracelets bought in Paris years ago l.. they look like Ivory but with not .. with intricate silver locks.
It helps to have a skinny wrist lol

  14. That is one thing that I too take with me everywhere - my bangles which I wear daily. I rotate them every now and again, but clearly have my favorites which are always on my arms! You have such a lovely collection of bangles!! Even though I don't need anymore, I am always on the hunt for new ones that I can't live without. I hope all is wonderful in your world, Jackie. Alex and I are coming to London in a few weeks for a quick trip and I couldn't be more excited to pack my warmer clothes to wear. 17. I love your cross necklace. All the necklaces that I wear are on black satin ribbon just like your cross necklace here. It is what I find most comfortable around my neck. I always take the chain off that the necklace came with and replace with a black satin ribbon. Beautiful Jacqueline xo
