Well, as usual, I start off really well with my Christmas preparations, and usually, by the beginning of December, most things have been done........ and then I find that it's mid December, and those last minute things are piling up..........
The tree has been bought but is still in the back garden ..........
I should be at the above stage, with baubles and decorations down from the loft and decorating said tree with carefree abandon but ..........
it looks more like this !!!!
These are some of my Christmas cards, all written I'm pleased to say but ...........
they are sitting on my desk, still not posted !!
No baking has been done, as I keep eating all of the raw ingredients !!!!
.......... and, we are expecting lots and lots more snow in the next few days, lasting until next year apparently so, there is every chance that the last of my online purchases are not going to be delivered !!!! Also, I was out to lunch on Monday.....and yesterday and I've got to go out to lunch today as well and a few more times next week !!
So, here is a little Christmas inspiration for you and for me and, hopefully, by the end of this week, our home will be looking festive, and we can begin to enjoy the magic that is Christmas.
I am hoping to enlist the help of some Christmas fairies to assist me in the last minute rush !! Does anyone know where I could find a few ?

ReplyDeleteHere ..... this is an example of blogs that I fell in love at first sight!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, your photos are always gorgeous and retro atmosphere that I love!
I made a post last night, where I talk about most of the blogs that inspire me, and makes your
of these and is in fact among the favorites link. I created a little corner at home
objects of inspiration and shabby as a hint I can give, I do not have that tree this year, but I set up the fireplace with the green stain Mediterranean, found in the woods near the house to which add the red berries in my tree.
You can find photos on my facebook profile: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=82727&id=1660417519

Oh Jackie, you brought a smile on my otherwise very tense face this morning. Am still in bed with my coffee waiting for my husband to bring me breakfast before going on a photo shoot for the day in freezing weather....I HAVE NOTHING READY!! and expecting 2 young cousins (my son's age) coming from France, my nephew, a slew of their friends...meanwhile I am borderline a wreck with the showroom not showing any of the expected Christmas figures, my accountant on my back, my assistant who think that working is really being on an extended vacation.... and then I read your post...and then I smile...Thank you Jackie...
ReplyDeleteJackie,
ReplyDeleteI am loving your images today. How wonderful being too busy with people to worry about Christmas - after all what is it all about? You have your priorities right my friend.
I know the feeling though, I need those fairies too so when you find them please send them this way xx
You know I would fly over there and help you Jackie if I could...............wouldn't that be fun! I am busy being a gift wrapping elf! More snow, oh dear! In our area there were airlifting people off a storm highway, it is going to be a year of snowstorms I think. My husband went and bought a huge snowblower this week. A most festive post Jackie and I know you will pull it all together after a few more holiday lunches. Much love XO
ReplyDeleteYou can send any extra fairies my way. Might want to tell her to wear a bit more than her wings as it is freezing here! I have yet to finish the shopping, the wrapping, the cooking, the decorating, the baking.... Just not enough hours in the day, so don't feel so bad! I am sure that everything will be absolutely stunning when you are done!
ReplyDeleteWhen you find those fairies can you please send some in my direction as I could do with a hand :-)
ReplyDeleteLeeann x
The above comment is mine. I wish the kids would sign out of their accounts when they are through on my laptop! Grrrr!
ReplyDeleteI hear there is a waiting list for the Christmas fairies. Mine cannot guarantee being here before Christmas Eve.
ReplyDeleteI love every image on this blog .. especially since I am in a very un-Christmasy looking place at this time :)
Hot and Summer do not equal Christmas time for me yet.
Happy Holidays ~
Hi dear Jackie,
ReplyDeleteyour todays Post is great...so funny...
Christmas time is so special and sadly some time highly busy... I'm shure that your home will be looking festive... if you meet some fairies, please send them to meeeeee... I don't know what to cook at Christmas, perhaps they can do it for me
xoxo Bine
Such a fun post with beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all that inspiration! With so much snow you better wear your snowshoes to get out for lunch! Don't worry about making it perfect...make it joyous!...I think you already are!
Thank you for your inspiration and for the smiles! You're the best!
:)
Im feeling the same, not even bought christmascards and stamps..help!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie -
ReplyDeleteI love being a procrastinator - I love last minute gifts, nights of wrapping gifts, and baking loaves of banana breads for the neighbors, chocolate chip cookies for their kids, jars of nuts and sugar gifts for my kids to give the people they work with, and marathon beading Chandeliers in between.
But mostly I love having a coffee and visit with friends I don't get to see or talk to as often as I'd like.
I'd love to see your home all done up for Christmas -
Clinking a coffee mug (ok, Starbucks paper cup) with you - CHEERS!
Marsha
I am behind as well. I feel very festive looking over your photo's give me the wheel barrow full of christmas jems and I would be happy. HUGS MARY
ReplyDeleteThose fairies are in high demand Jackie.......Good luck and happy, happy Christmas to you..xv
ReplyDeleteLunch first, decorating can wait! Especially when it looks as good as these images!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it all - it will all get done beautifully!

ReplyDeleteAh, a slot in your diary! Please pencil me in for lunch tomorrow. We'll have a seasonal hot brandy and leave our lack of preparedness for Christmas behind us.
ReplyDeletePanic?? Nah there's plenty of time left!! My online purchases have not arrived yet, I have only half the presents and I've eaten half the baking as it hasn't come out right, so I have to start again. The only thing I'm on top on is the Christmas cards and presents being sent. I don't even know how many are coming over and when they are coming. Talk about lastminute dot com!!!!
ReplyDeleteLovin those “milk wings” in the bath...Jackie don’t fret...anything you do
ReplyDeletewill be magical ....
Beautiful images, Jackie!! I have faith that you will have everything done just right! Enjoy all of your lunches - we have several dinners this week and next and I am already full at the thought of them. Enjoy the season! xxoo :)

This post is so thoroughly delightful and full of Christmas cheer, you should consider your work done! As for eating the raw ingredients....pass me the spoon!! Meredy xo
ReplyDeleteBut my panic never looks so beautiful! XX!
ReplyDeleteI am in need of those fairies, as well. I have a tree that's not decorated. I have a wreath that's not hung. I have decorations but not on display yet and I have very little time!
ReplyDeleteDo I qualify for one of the Christmas fairies to come help me too!?! I guess trying to get things done is half the fun. Have a wonderful and joyous Christmas.
I am sure you will "pull it out of your hat" Jackie ~ I was in panic mode but after a full blown attack I think I finally got it together. Love the photos you chose ~ the wheelbarrow is my favorite! xo
ReplyDeleteIf you find those fairies, send some my way!
ReplyDelete~michelle~
p.s. make sure they are good at wrapping! ;-)
Hello! Christmas fairies? They seem to be on strike in my house! Listen, I wanted to drop by also to thank you for another lovely comment on my blog. You do speak such words of wisdom and I know exactly what you mean. The people whom I talked of, I don't even know that well - but what they are experiencing is just horrendous. Even worse that it is also kind of their own making so somehow that makes it seem even more harsh. Plus the time of year...anyway - we have to be grateful for our own lives and help those in need where we can? Can't do any more huh? So thank you xxx Love Lou xxx
ReplyDeleteHi you really made me laugh...especially about eating the raw ingredients..I do that too often, and end up with madera cakeinsead of a tropical mixed fruit ha ha..
ReplyDeleteJust love your writing xxx
Hugs Lynn xxxx
Beautiful! :o)
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Dorota
Jackie .. this sounds so familiar, but I am happy to say we have put up the tree and decorations ... but am expecting a lot more on-line gifts I've purchased ... and hope the weather holds out just one more week ... then it can snow as long as it likes!!

xx

hi dear Jackie,
ReplyDeleteYou make it all look so lovely to be behind for Christmas my dear. I think it sounds like you are doing the important things for the holidays, and that is lunching with friends.
I too, have not sent out my cards, nor trimmed my tree, so if you hear of any faeries, could you send them my way???
love to you...
Dear Sweet Jackie ~
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the pinch too ~ especially due to the added stress of a move (this week / weekend), but it will all work out. At least the crumb is happy with her daily stocking find, and I do have a gumball tree in a vase! Next year (I always tell myself this), I will be on top of it, ha!
If I see one of those fairies out and about, I'll send your way!
Bisous,
Melissa
Every image is just beautiful! Loving the last one though. Have a gorgeous weekend, Kellie xx

ReplyDeleteI love the vintage photos, Jackie! Hope you are having a cozy season with the snow. Merry Christmas and xo!!
ReplyDeleteI must confess I had some decortion in tht little tree I have (some silver starss) But took them off again, I just enjoy the plain green tree with lights this year ... everything will come fine ... just relax and take the stuff from the ceiling or het a green tree like me.. far more easier!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas Jackie - may you find thousands of fairies to help. After two months away in India and the Antipodes I neither have anything remotely Christmassy ready. My supposedly wonderful and practically new Espace car is in the garage on its last legs so Beaker is going to play father Christmas this year too. Oh well - I guess it's a blesssing in disguise LOL. Right - better go and finish unpacking the suitcases so we can put up some decorations too.
ReplyDeleteMuch love
I'll be posting again soon :)
