GARDENS ARE NOT MADE BY SITTING IN THE SHADE ……..

Today was my first day of the year gardening ….. PROPERLY ….. I was out there for eight hours and, as always, at this time of year, I ache all over !!!!! …… and, as always, I have a massive blister on the palm of my right hand from the trowel !!!!!
I know that there are many of you out there that garden all of the year round but, I'm afraid that I'm a bit of a fair weather gardener.

Have you ventured out and weeded the beds yet ?

….. a bit of light pruning tomorrow, I think !!

By the way, that's not all of our garden ….. it goes on ….. and across ….. hence the aches and blister, just in case you think that I'm moaning about nothing !!

" And when your back stops aching and your hands begin to harden ….. You will find yourself a partner in the Glory of the Garden. "

Rudyard Kipling

  1. And the older we get the more aches there are! I garden year round and our winter was so warm this year that I had a large veggie garden to tend. It has been wonderful. So yes I have been in the garden. Mine is not as BIG and grand as yours but it is warming up and so I have to water everyday...and weed!

    1. How To Stop A Divorce And Save Your Marriage?(Dr.Brave).

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in TEXAS,USA.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.(bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, i will advice you out there to kindly email this wonderful man {bravespellcaster@gmail.com},i f you are in any condition like this,or you have any problem related to "bringing your ex back. So thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family once again.{bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, Thanks..

  2. Dear Jackie
I can understand why you choose to spend the day in your beautiful garden. Sorry about your blister.
Here in Florida I have a tiny patio garden, with hibiscus, bougainvillia, a ficus tree three gardinia bushes and pots overflowing with annuals. I find gardening most rewarding.
    Keep your knees dirty

    Have a lovely week. xx

  14. We have an enormous garden space like yours. It takes me days/weeks to complete tasks. I did buy a dandelion fork today. I am pleased to say it works. Weeding is a terrible thing but I look on it as exercise for the waist-wink. Do enjoy yourself after the aches wear off my friend. xo, olive

  16. Dear Jackie,
I think I can estimate the lot of work that goes into a garden of that size - quite a lot to do! Aching: yes, especially the back (husband always called me like a muezzin: "Time over!" and I mumbled, "Yeah, will come soon, just this last ground elder...the soil is easy, as it has rained before..."
Gardens are a wonderful way to work out!

  17. Amen, sister! I worked until I dropped yesterday! Had to ice my foot and back this morning. But went out and worked again today. You are so right, gardens are not made sitting in the shade. I even had help working along side and there is still much to be done.

I love it though. Had to have two very large pine trees cut due to pine beetles. They are down and the stumps ground, however, much destruction occured. Actually, now much more light will be in the area and my garden dimension will change. I will be planting more things for part sun rather than shade that is after the destruction is mended. Huge holes exist where the heavy tree limbs fell and the deep ruts from the machinery will need to be filled in. Then, the routine spring clean up and maintenance. I am not complaining just giving a report.

  18. My dearest Jackie..........I love to sit in the shade ;), so my garden is not so perfect. And I´m a real fair weather gardener ;).......it has not to be cold, and not to be too warm.......at the moment it is perfect ;). Have a wonderful week full of sunshine,

    with love and hugs, Jade

  19. I long to dig the dirt, start trimming the boxwoods and rose bush. To night as I was driving back from another day in New York, I suddenly heard the frogs chirping by our house. It almost brought tears to my eyes... yes this is the time of renewal. I stopped the car and enjoyed a moment of bliss

  20. I'm so glad you got to get your hands dirty my dear Jackie. I am still waiting for the earth to thaw out here...but soon, very soon.
    much love from here....

  21. Welcome in "the club", dear Jackie! I'm dealing here with 8000 square meters, trying to get all in order, pruning, cutting tiding up, battling with the weather which change by the minute, the rain, the wind....and ...and....
....and the back and joint aches! But - getting always in a good mood, working in garden clears my mind!
And - "In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt." (Margaret Atwood) :) :) :)
