REMEMBERING......

THE ELEVENTH DAY of THE ELEVENTH MONTH at ELEVEN a.m.... WE WILL REMEMBER
From the poem FOR THE FALLEN by LAURENCE BINYON ( 1869-1943 )
THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD :
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM, NOR THE YEARS CONDEM.
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

  1. Amen to that. I can't even think about the images this evokes without feeling like crying. (And to think they don't even do a minutes silence at my duaghter's school. Although I was just with a client and we all stopped for it which I thought was really nice in this day and age) xoxo

  3. Your post very heart felt. Your Blog is simply wonderful! Your photo's are stunning, and the Halloween ones, wow! Especially the eye and the bee! I really love the photo of the women by the window in the dark.

  5. This post has me choked up as I type. So lovely and so fitting. Thanks for this moment to reflect on the millions of lives lost in that war and too many since. Here in the US we celebrate Veteran's Day tomorrow, but I think too few really honor it. This year, after last week's tragic shootings at Ft. Hood, perhaps more people will.

Thank you for your incredibly sweet comment on my last post. It sounds like we both have good memories of our dads to cherish.

    Big hugs, my friend.

  12. It's good that we still remember them, even if it is a long time ago. I went to Ieper with my daughter and a friend in September. The landscape still bears the scars of the Great War. Even for us Dutch (we were a neutral country at that time) it was very impressive. So many young lives lost....

  16. Short and simple, and yet it says so much. Today will be a melancholy day. Remembering my time in the army, my years as a Marine wife and all the fallen soldiers past and present.

    Thank you sweet friend!

  18. Hello Jacqueline
Thank you for such a moving tribute to all the men and women that serve our countries in war and peace time. It is a sacrifice that many families have made and I will remember them in my prayers today.

  19. Ok you got me! I'm crying like a baby. This is so fitting for today. So many have sacrificed for us and are still doing so. Yesterday I listened on the radio of the funerals of the soldiers that died needlessly in Ft Hood. I wish we could all make sense of it.
There is so much hatred out there.....maybe everyone needs to BLOG!!! lol
